This pays for the dispatch and the hook-up and does not vary with the hour, the day or the weather. Phoning the dispatcher makes it $149; using the booking page makes it $129. It assumes a car, SUV or pickup on a wheel-lift or a flatbed; a van, a box truck or a bus is quoted separately because it needs a bigger truck.
The miles, read out before the truck is assigned
A per-mile figure from where the car is to where you want it. Inside Jersey City or across the line into a bordering town it stays small. A run to the shore, upstate or across a state line becomes a long distance tow priced as one number with the tolls and the return inside it.
Recovery and heavy-duty, only when the car demands it

What do I give up by booking online for $129?
Nothing but the conversation. You enter the pickup, the drop-off and the vehicle yourself and keep the $20. On a live road, phone instead; it is quicker.
Is there a different rate for a garage or a fleet?
An account gets a rate sheet, booked windows and one monthly statement on net terms. The desk opens it in a few minutes.
Does the price go up at night, on a weekend or on a holiday?
No. The people who staff 3 a.m. are the same company, and the price list has no column for the hour.
Will I be charged storage?
